Bruce Willis’ daughters have spoken out following a heart-wrenching update on his health. This comes after Emma Heming’s emotional disclosure about the uncertainty surrounding the actor’s awareness of his frontotemporal dementia diagnosis.
“It’s hard to know” – Emma said.
Scout and Tallulah, two of Bruce Willis’ daughters with ex-wife Demi Moore, took to their respective Instagram stories to express their pride in Emma Heming Willis for courageously stepping into the public eye to share their family’s story. They shared links to Heming’s own post about the experience.
Foxnews reported, these are the most recent developments from the Willis family.
“Emma, you are an incredible advocate for this cause, and your immense bravery and deep love inspire me every single day. Your courage is truly remarkable.”
Willis has another daughter, Rumer, with Moore. Tallulah, 29, recently revealed in an article for Vogue Magazine, “I’ve sensed that something was amiss for quite some time.”
At first, it manifested as a vague unresponsiveness, which the family attributed to Hollywood’s hearing issues, saying, ‘Speak up! ‘Die Hard’ took a toll on Dad’s ears.’ Gradually, this unresponsiveness expanded, and at times, I took it personally. He had two children with my stepmother, Emma Heming Willis, and I falsely believed he had lost interest in me. Despite this being far from the truth, my adolescent mind tormented itself with unwarranted thoughts: “I’m not attractive enough for my mother, I’m not captivating enough for my father,” she added.
Emma Heming has been married to Willis since 2009, and together they have daughters Mabel, 11, and Evelyn, 9.
“We maintain a very candid and open household,” Heming shared during an appearance on the “Today” show with Hoda Kotb. “The most crucial aspect was explaining the nature of the disease. When you understand the medical aspects of the disease, it all starts to make sense,” Heming said about informing their children of her husband’s diagnosis.
“It was important for us to inform them about the condition because we didn’t want any stigma or shame associated with their dad’s diagnosis or any form of dementia.”
“I’ve come to understand that dementia is incredibly challenging. It’s difficult for the person diagnosed, and it’s equally challenging for the family. This applies to Bruce, me, and our daughters,” Heming revealed. “When they say it’s a ‘family disease,’ they’re absolutely right.“
Bruce Willis disclosed his aphasia diagnosis in 2022, which led to his retirement. In March 2023, the Willis family shared the unfortunate news that his condition had progressed to frontotemporal dementia.
Bruce, we wish you a long and joy-filled life ahead.
