Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have decided to reschedule the remaining dates of their tour due to the rock icon’s illness.
The 74-year-old singer, renowned for hits like ‘Dancing In The Dark,’ ‘Born To Run,’ and ‘I’m On Fire,’ has had to temporarily halt his tour due to health concerns.
In a statement posted on his Instagram page, Springsteen has revealed to his fans that he is steadily recovering from a peptic ulcer.
A peptic ulcer, as per WebMD, is when “open sores develop in the lining of your stomach or the upper part of the small intestine.”
This occurs when stomach acids erode the protective layer of mucus in your digestive tract, potentially leading to internal bleeding, which may necessitate blood transfusions.
The statement on the singer’s Instagram account reads: “Bruce Springsteen has been making a steady recovery from peptic ulcer disease over the past few weeks and will continue treatment for the remainder of the year under medical advice.
“Given this situation and as a precaution, all the remaining 2023 tour dates for Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band will be postponed until 2024.”
The statement also mentions that new dates for 2024 will be announced shortly, and individuals unable to attend these dates will have a 30-day window to request a refund.
Springsteen concludes the statement with a personal message, saying: “Thanks to all my friends and fans for your good wishes, encouragement, and support. I’m on the mend and can’t wait to see you all next year.”
Numerous fans have posted comments on the Instagram post, extending their best wishes to the artist.
“Protect Bruce at all costs!!” writes one individual.
Another fan adds, “While I am sad for the fans who will miss concerts, I must say I am very happy to hear that Bruce is going to take good care of himself. We love you, Bruce. Continue to get well, we are not going anywhere, and we’ll be right here waiting for you.”
“Nothing is more important than his full recovery,” mentions a third.
Someone else chimes in with: “Your health is the most important thing! Wishing you all the best, take good care of yourself, and see you further on up the road.”
This development comes after the rock icon had previously postponed (and subsequently rescheduled) his August 16 and 18 shows in Philadelphia.
Earlier in March, three concerts were postponed due to an undisclosed illness.
