Last year, Celine Dion received a diagnosis of stiff person syndrome, prompting her to cancel her global tour.
Addressing the singer’s battle with stiff person syndrome, Celine Dion‘s sister, Claudette Dion, has expressed the family’s struggle to find an effective treatment for her. Nevertheless, Claudette emphasized the importance of maintaining hope.
The revelation of Celine Dion‘s condition came in December 2022, when she informed her fans via an Instagram post that she had decided to call off her Courage World Tour.
She disclosed, “I’m diligently working on rebuilding my strength, but even at full health, touring can be exceptionally demanding.”
Providing an update on Celine’s health, Claudette Dion revealed to Le Journal de Montréal that her sister, Linda, has moved into Celine’s residence, where she resides with her three sons: René-Charles, Eddy, and Nelson. Claudette explained, “When I call her and she’s occupied, I speak with my sister Linda, who resides with her, and she informs me that Celine is putting in a tremendous effort.” This information was reported by SheMazing.
Claudette Dion went on to affirm that the decision to cancel the tour was the right one, as the formidable singer requires a period of rest.
She commented, “She always pushes herself to the limit, always strives for excellence and to be at the pinnacle of her career. However, there comes a point when your heart and your body are trying to convey something to you. It’s essential to heed those signals.”
She further noted, “Discipline is ingrained in her, she exhibits it in every facet of her life. While we haven’t found any effective medications, holding onto hope is crucial.”
Stiff person syndrome is a rare neurological disorder, affecting only one or two individuals per million.
It manifests through muscle rigidity, spasms, and stiffness.
This condition leads to unpredictable muscle spasms, often triggered by stress, noise, or sudden movements. Stiff person syndrome impacts the central nervous system, which governs voluntary bodily movements.
Though the exact cause remains incompletely understood, research points to genetics, autoimmunity, and environmental factors as potential contributors to its development.
We are wishing Celine to get better any soon, we love you Celine Dion! Amen
