Will Smith wrote e-mail to The New York Times: “When you’ve been with someone for more than half of your life, a sort of emotional blindness sets in”.
Will Smith has reacted to the revelations in his wife Jada Pinkett Smith‘s upcoming memoir, “Worthy.”
In an email sent to The New York Times during their profile on Pinkett Smith, the Oscar-winning actor shared that the book had a profound impact on him.

He expressed that the 52-year-old actress had led a more adventurous life than he had previously realized, and her resilience, intelligence, and compassion surpassed his previous understanding.
Smith‘s message conveyed his realization that after being with someone for more than half of your life, a kind of emotional blindness can set in, making it easy to overlook the subtler nuances and hidden beauties of the person you thought you knew so well.

In a subsequent interview with Hoda Kotb on Today, Pinkett Smith, known for her roles in “The Matrix” and “Girls Trip,” disclosed that she and her husband had separated in 2016 and had been living apart, despite maintaining a public image of unity since their marriage in 1997.
She explained that she had kept the separation a secret because she wasn’t ready to reveal it and was still in the process of figuring out how to present themselves as a couple to the public.
“We hadn’t figured that out,” she remarked.
The actress Jada and host of Red Table Talk, whose new memoir “Worthy” is set to be released on October 17, revealed that she felt “hurt” initially when Chris Rock mocked her and Will Smith in his comedy special “Selective Outrage.”
She shared her emotions, stating, “I remember my heart piercing, my heart cracking, and I remember my feelings being so hurt,” during an interview with The New York Times.
However, she went on to say, “And then I remember being able to smile and wish him well at the same time.”

In the comedy special, Rock targeted the couple and cracked jokes about the infamous incident at the 2022 Academy Awards when Smith struck him after Rock made fun of Pinkett Smith‘s shaved head, a result of her alopecia.
Smith later issued an apology to Rock on Instagram, but he was subsequently banned from all Oscar-related events for the next decade.
Speaking about the slap during the special, Rock remarked, “People asked me if it hurt. Yes, that s— hurt! I got hit so hard, I heard ‘Summertime’ ringing in my ears.”
